Wycombe Abbey School Singapore’s Groundbreaking Ceremony

Wycombe Abbey is pleased to announce that, following the Presidential Approval at the end of October 2025, Wycombe Abbey School (Singapore) has reached a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony at its future campus site in Hougang. This marks the official commencement of the development of its first school in Southeast Asia.

The ceremony took place on 6 January 2026 hosted by Mr Dez Yuan, Vice President of BE Education, Wycombe Abbey’s partner in the region. The event was attended by partners, stakeholders, and guests from both the education and business communities.

Mr William Vanbergen, Founder and Chair of BE Education, delivered a speech highlighting the shared vision behind this project. He emphasised the long-term benefits the school will bring to families and the broader community in Singapore. Mr Goh Wee Ping, Chief Investment Officer of Wee Hur Holdings, the Wycombe Abbey School (Singapore)’s local development partner, also addressed attendees, reinforcing the project’s goals and commitment to educational excellence.

Building on Wycombe Abbey’s nearly 130-year heritage in the UK, the new Singapore campus will join a growing global network of Wycombe Abbey schools. This network includes existing campuses in the UK, Cairo, Hong Kong, Changzhou, Hangzhou, and Nanjing, along with upcoming schools in Bangkok (opening this year). These institutions form an interconnected international community that offers exceptional opportunities for student, family, and staff exchanges, as well as collaborative academic initiatives and global networks that extend beyond graduation.

Strategically located just 20 minutes’ drive from both the Central Business District (CBD) and Changi Airport, Wycombe Abbey School (Singapore) will operate as a K–12 co-educational day school. The school is designed to blend academic rigour with holistic development and a future-ready approach to learning. By integrating into the wider Wycombe Abbey network, students and families will engage in a truly international educational experience grounded in shared values and a global perspective.
