Leadership Transition Announcement at Wycombe Abbey School Hangzhou

Mr Tig Mooney, the founding Executive Headmaster of Wycombe Abbey School Hangzhou, will transition to a group role focused on expanding Wycombe Abbey Schools in Asia after five years of exemplary service. His leadership has been pivotal in guiding the school through challenging times, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing it to not only survive but thrive. His commitment to excellence has positioned Wycombe Abbey School Hangzhou as a leading institution in international education.
Ms Sun, the founding Chinese Principal, praised Tig’s ability to bridge cultures and create a global learning environment, noting the lasting impact he has had on the school community. As he moves into his new role, Tig will continue to collaborate closely with the Hangzhou Senior Leadership Team to ensure a smooth transition for the school.
Dr Simon Probert has been appointed as the new Executive Headmaster, effective 1 August 2025. With over a decade of leadership experience in international education across prestigious institutions in China, South Korea, and the UK, Dr Probert is well-equipped to lead the school into its next chapter. His previous eight years at Harrow International Schools were marked by academic excellence and innovative curriculum development, and he possesses a Doctorate in Education, along with fluency in Mandarin and Russian.
Dr Probert expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Wycombe Abbey School Hangzhou community, emphasizing his eagerness to build on Tig’s strong foundations. As the school welcomes Dr Probert, the community also reflects on Tig’s remarkable contributions, which have set a benchmark for excellence.
