Duncan’s Growth and Success at Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong
29 May 2025 - Hong Kong

One parent from Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong shares her insights into her son’s time at the school:
Duncan, our eldest child, transitioned from his previous school with his sister to Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong (WASHK) to better prepare for a UK boarding school from Year 9. At his former school, students were often sorted into groups based on performance, leading to a restrictive environment where Duncan felt pressured to conform without questioning his interests or enjoyment.
At WASHK, Duncan has thrived in a supportive atmosphere that encourages self-exploration without labels. The School’s broad curriculum allows him to pursue subjects he enjoys, like Maths and Science, while thoughtfully expressing his disinterest in Drama. This shift has fostered his independent thinking, as he now critiques subjects based on reasoning rather than mere boredom, benefiting from the School’s small class sizes and positive teaching approaches.
Duncan enjoys the balance of academic rigor and manageable pressure at WASHK, taking ownership of his studies and prioritising his responsibilities over distractions. With the invaluable support of the Headmaster, he received multiple offers from UK boarding schools, making the decision process an exciting challenge for our family as we trust Duncan to choose wisely for his future.
