A New Beginning: The First Week of School at Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong
23 September 2025 - Hong Kong

The 2025–26 academic year kicked off with excitement as students, staff and families returned to Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong. The campus buzzed with energy from day one, with lively conversations filling the hallways and classrooms brimming with curiosity.

In the Prep School, the youngest learners embraced the new term with enthusiasm. Year 1 students created illustrated self-introductions, while Year 2 engaged in discussions sparked by the book Sam and Dave Dig a Hole. Year 3 began exploring plants in Science, Year 4 studied settlement formation, Year 5 focused on the ancient Indus Valley and Year 6 delved into maps in Geography, laying a strong foundation for spatial thinking. Meanwhile, Year 7 tackled Gothic Literature and Year 8 applied their knowledge of ratios to real-world situations, showcasing the richness of our academic programme that fosters curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.

This year also marks the opening of the Senior School, welcoming its inaugural Year 9 cohort. Students adapted to new routines and friendships, starting their History class with a debate on the “G.O.A.T.” of 1914, while Year 10 students engaged in hands-on experiments to explore diffusion. Their first Geography field trip to the Royal Geographical Society featured lessons on perseverance through the story of James Riley’s expedition to Angel Falls.

In Year 12, Sixth Formers began their A level journey with an inspiring talk from adventurer Adrian Hayes, who shared his survival story from scaling Kanchenjunga. Our first assemblies emphasised our core values of kindness, resilience, and excellence, while Parent Information Sessions strengthened the partnership between home and School. As the year unfolds, Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong is filled with the promise of growth, discovery and remarkable achievements, marking just the beginning of an extraordinary journey.
